BRANDING & PACKAGING DESIGN

SKN is a luxury brand with sleek, avant garde, and futuristic elements; this brand provides a fresh take at luxury skincare/cosmetics. SKN provides cutting edge lip care, which the branding also mirrors with its unique design choices.


PROBLEM

The client asked for a packaging and promotional reel that will appeal to the younger generation of consumers through impactful visuals and a unique aesthetic flare.


RESEARCH

Two of the most popular genres among the younger generation of consumers are science fiction and fantasy. I decided to move forward with science fiction being the driving aesthetic inspiration, looking at luxury brands like Mugler and Gentle Monster to curate the mood board for the promo reel.


SOLUTION & RESULTS

I have a passion for creating visuals that hold a lot of intention while also seeming effortless. I curated this aesthetic by intentionally adding small details like the embossed chrome logotype, the unique kerning of the type, abstract gradient blobs, and handmade cellophane texture. This project was chosen as one of the top 5 standout packaging designs of a cohort of 25 in addition to reaching 700+ views on social media.

PROMO REEL

This reel encapsulates SKN’s sleek, avant garde, and futuristic, designer themes. Inspired by Mugler and Gentle Monster’s creative direction, dramatic shots of the packaging are used in combination with flashing lights, 3D elements, and cellophane as a recurring texture. To further emphasize the designer themes, the song “Left Side Drive” by Boards of Canada scores the reel giving it a runway energy with the driving beat and liminal sounds to emphasize the futuristic feel.
